You need to know that search engine algorithms (algorithms created by Google to rank pages according to numerous variables) compare the extent to which your keywords are relevant to the keywords your visitors or other users search online.
Also, the extent to which your chosen keywords are relevant to the content you place on a particular page.
It does not end there, these keywords are then compared to the metadata of your posts. What’s more, is that it even does not end there, the keywords themselves have a ranking and that’s why you hear keyword ranking a lot in SEO related topics.

So, if you are a marketing manager, especially a digital one, make sure to improve your web writing skills.
As you know one of the tools to optimize SEO and rank up your website or a particular page is keyword research. You need to find a keyword for each of your website’s pages.
You need to put yourself in your visitors’ shoes so you can guess what they might search for. However, there are also other tools that make finding the target keywords easier for you.
here’s a sample on how my visitors might think and search for this topic:
- How to improve my website SEO
- optimize SEO
- Digital marketing
- Rank up my website on Google
- Optimize SEO strategies
The tools you can use are as follows:
So let’s begin with an example. If you want to run an eCommerce Store WordPress website, then you need 3 things to begin boosting your traffic and as a result your Google ranking and SEO.
Just like the following info-graphic you need the following 3 pages:
- Product Page: To present what you sell
- Category Page: To give the users the opportunity to discover more and increase your lead to customer conversion.
- Blog: To boost your traffic using content which is one of the most important things to improve SEO.
Now, you need to generate keyword ideas, but how?
This is where I am going to introduce to you some practical solutions you can use right now.
One of the best platforms for this is Ahrefs, however, you need to pay for it. Here are some free keyword explorer tools by the way
- Google Trends;
- Keyword Sheeter;
- Answer the Public;
- Keyword Surfer;
- Google Search Console;
- Bulk Keyword Generator;
You can use all the above instead of Ahrefs as well.
Alright, let’s get down to business. So enter the Ahrefs website and then you can sign up for a trial of 7 days. Then use the keyword explorer and add in your words like computers, graphic cards, speakers and etc.
After pressing the Enter button, go to the ‘Having Same Terms’ tab from the left side panel. On that tab, Ahrefs lists all the relevant other keywords you have the opportunity to target.
Here you do not have to take all those keywords, but you need to list them into for groups that are related to your funnel process on your website:
- Informative: Attention
- Navigational: Interest
- Commercial: Desire
- Transnational: Action
Now, based on your needs you can create the pages mentioned above using the categories above. Meaning that you can create a page with the attention purpose and then direct your visitors to another page with a keyword that focuses on interest and continue the pattern.
Multiple Keyword Phrases
You can use the keyword clustering technique to rank for multiple keywords on the same page. In this technique, you will choose your main focus keyword using your keyword explorer tool.
This is one of the most effective SEO practices that can improve your site ranking immediately. You can then find the most relevant and related words to your focus word which have also been searched a lot.
Usually, the focus keyword is a more difficult word in terms of competition and the rest 4 other keywords are easier.
Using this technique, not only will you rank for your focus keyword but also you will rank for the other keywords. In this method, you need to use the focus keyword as your anchor text and you should use it at least 15 times in your article, depending on the number of words.
If you use it too much your text might become nonsense. But if the article is a long one then you have multiple opportunities to use your focus keyword.
you can then use the other keywords 2-4 times just to be ranked for those keywords as well.
Keep in mind not to make the article nonsense.
However, you can also create separate pages for each keyword and target them on other pages as well.
There are several hints you need to know.
- Use part/the whole keyword phrase in the page URL
- Use part/the whole keyword phrase in the page title
- Use part/the whole keyword phrase in the page headings and subheadings
You can optimize SEO and SERP using these guidelines immediately. You need to know that readability and usability are still 2 of the most important factors and ranking factors in improving SEO.
Try to be joyful, friendly and natural when writing an article, however, it is very much dependant on the niche you are working in.
Bear in mind that it is really awkward to use the keywords multiple times in your URL or page title or meta description. Keep it to a minimum.
We said immediately but honestly, optimizing SEO is all about strategy and patience.
Now let’s get to the crux of the metier. URL, Page title, meta description, image alt text, and so on, are all illusions in the face of the main content.
Improving SEO without professional content creation is impossible. You need to know that you are creating this content for the users and not the search engines.
This means that most of the content creators focus on search engines and it leads to unnatural, and superficial content created by them.
This is because they’ll try to use a focus keyword as much as they can, to the extent that it makes the article absurd.
You should use your keywords wisely. I have used ‘optimize SEO’ in this article as much as I could. Still, even my writing is sacrificed because of SEO, and this is wrong.
As I mentioned before you need to use your focus keyword more than 12 times throughout the text and the other keywords 2-4 times.
NEVER sacrifice good content and good writing for the sake of Improving SEO.
Update Your Content Regularly
You need to know that regular updates for your blog and content are just awesome to boost your SEO. Search engines are just as much concentrated on this matter as I am now.
This will show the search engines that my website is up to date and any content on it is regularly updated and so is relevant at any given time.
You can set a schedule for reviewing your content. For example, you can review your content every 2 months, and you can update it on each quarter.
The metadata is all the information placed in between the head tags throughout a page when being designed by your web designer.
Keeping it updated on a regular basis is a wise act as a digital marketing manager, and with the aim to improve SEO and site ranking.
This metadata is clearly all the content, page title, meta description and all else you can see when searching a word on google or any other search engines.
Title metadata is the page title displayed at the top of a browser window and as the headline within search engine results.
This data is by far the most important metadata on your page. This is because the words in it will tell your visitor what is the main topic of this page. This is the same idea the search engine gets.
You should remember to choose your keyword wisely. Besides, the keyword’s competition rate should be low, it should also be the most relevant keyword to your niche and page content.
It might seem easy at first sight, but choosing a keyword and running successful keyword research is a hell of a skill if you have it.
The metadata of description is the excerpt written under the page title when you are searching for a particular keyword.
It is a summary or I’d better say, a concise and comprehensive description of all that is listed on that particular page. You should choose all your words wisely.
You need to know that you have to follow both the rules of SEO and also the rules of Content Marketing.
If you work with Google Console, then you’ll know that there are pages with high impressions (number of times seen by users on search engines) but the CTR (Click-through rate or the number of times clicked by the user) is low for them.
This clearly shows the problem is with the meta description. The content is not tailored enough to make the CTR rise. This is all about content marketing and making the users crave entering your website.
You need to make the words talk to your users and tell them, “come in, you are most welcome to learn”.
A great meta description contains at least two engaging sentences. Remember that not all search engines use the meta description, but adding it is a must.
Another important part is the keyword metadata. It actually has a place in Rankmath and Yoast for itself that you can fill with your primary and then secondary keywords.
Before you create a page or a blog post, you should definitely know your topic and so you should have already carried out your keyword research.
After you have gathered your keywords, you can add them to your keyword metadata.
Remember to use at least 5 keywords. The keywords can be between 1 to 4 words long. Recently, long-tailed keywords have become more and more popular and the search engines are apparently giving them more credit than before.
A rule of thumb is that never use 2 irrelevant keywords on the same page or same keyword metadata.
Link Building is Absolutely Important in SEO
Linkbuilding is another important item when it comes to SEO. You need to build both internal links and external links. But bear in mind that making the external links do-follow is better.
However, in general, you need to make a combination of both no-follow and do-follow links. This way, search engines feel confident that you know what you are doing.
The link juice will never leave your website if you make a do-follow link to an external source who is your rival and has a greater domain authority.
But if you make them all no-follow then certainly you will have a downgrade in your SEO. Therefore, be wise when link building on your website.
Another great solution is to find your pillar posts or the strongest of all.
There is a value called PR in Ahrefs, which stands for page rank. You can use Ahrefs or SEMrush to find your strongest pages and your weakest pages.
This way you can create internal links from your strongest page to your weakest and so on. This way you are transferring the link juice from your strong pages to your weak pages as well.
You will certainly improve your overall SEO using this strategy.
Choose your anchor text wisely. Most of the bloggers use click here or here as the anchor text when they want to create a link. This is exactly because they are not well-taught in terms of SEO.
You must use your keywords or long-tailed keywords, or the title page of the domain you want to link to so that it has a search engine value.
This will improve your search engine ranking for that particular keyword. Also, note that using keywords in H1, H2, and other heading tags makes the word a target for the search engine.
Hence, do not use irrelevant keywords in your headings at all.
Always remember that by link building, not only are you ranking up the current page you’re working on, but also you’re ranking the page that you are linking to your current page.
As the linking keywords turn blue, this will help your users who are scanning your article, just like you, to see the topic and click it if necessary.
These keywords can be descriptive or even short, but an important tip is that they should be to the point.
This way, your SEO will be optimized and also those users with disabilities, for example, the blind who use screen readers can benefit an explanatory anchor text linked to the page they need.
Note: If you want a strategy for your link-building we are providing our customers with a PDF of a great strategy by which you can create backlinks.
These are not paid or other kinds of backlinks that you need to send a million emails for, but they are free ready backlinks you can create in a blink of an eye. You can find the name of those backlink websites in that PDF as well.

A great solution discovered by Brian Dean from Backlino. Before I get deep down into this topic, here’s what he has to say about this technique:
Well today I’m going to show you a technique that almost guarantees that you get high quality links from every piece of content that you publish. In fact, I recently used this strategy (“The Skyscraper Technique”) to boost my organic traffic by 110% in 2 weeks
Brian Dean, founder of the Backlinko website
in this technique you have to do the following:

- Search it on Google to find the best blog or website on the top first link on Google
- Enter the blog post and copy the URL
- Go to MOZ website and create an account
- Click on the ‘Home’ icon on the top right corner
- Find the ‘Link Explorer’ field and paste the URL there
- Look at the ‘Top followed links to this site‘. These are the website giving a link to this page
- Now, write a better, richer blog post about the same topic with the same keyword (for example if it’s named 10 best WordPress themes you name 20 best of them)
- Then contact those websites linking to the #1 blog post on Google using their contact forms or emails and tell them to link to your blog as well. tell them that your blog is richer and better and it adds value to their website to provide their audience with better content, they deserve it
- If the above email tchnique did not buy you the link, then install the ‘Broken Link Checker’ extention on your Chrome and then check those top site for broken links and let them know and see if you can have links to those broken links.
They might work with you that is because you are giving them something so, it is normal for them to give you something in return.
You are good to go in 12-30 days you will observe a 110% jump in your site ranking in Google or that particular web page or blog post you’ve written.
Alt Tags Vital to Optimize SEO
you should always add the alternative tag to your images, videos, Gifs, and practically everything. This is the way Google shows the results to its users and so you can get higher rankings in Google.
If an image does not have the right alt tag then it is not displayed to the users properly. These alt tags make the search engines find your page.
This is really important since it can double your chances of being seen. Generally speaking, it can affect your visibility for a particular keyword even.
Due to the spreading of the new disease, COVID-19, a lot of events are becoming online, postponed, rescheduled, or even cancelled. This is why Google starts to support event schemas.
Google adds several new optional properties for event websites. One of these options, for example, is ‘eventStatus‘. This way, those who have event websites can now make their users aware of their event status.
Several options are available to show the status of the event there are, cancelled, postponed, and rescheduled.
This ‘eventStatus’ property help this monster search engine know about the status of the events. Therefore, instead of dropping the items from the search results or SERP, it will show the status of the event that was searched by the user.
Here’s a brief on the usage of the eventStatus:
Event Canceled: ‘EventStatus’ should be set to ‘EventCancelled’ but surely keep the original date in the ‘startDate’ of the event.
Event Postponed (new date not designate): The original date is kept in the ‘startDate’ of the event until the new date for the event is decided. Then update the ‘eventStatus’ to ‘EventPostponed’.
Event Rescheduled (new date is designated): Update both the ‘startDate’ and the ‘endDate’ with the designated new dates. Set the ‘eventStatus’ field to ‘Ev
